How To Optimize Your Website

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

There are millions of searches performed by people on the internet, day and night. There are also countless searches made by people on what you may be selling on your website. Therefore, if you want to increase the visibility of your website, then first of all, you need to ensure that your website is listed by the search engines like Google, MSN, and Yahoo. A study has revealed that most people visit only those websites that are listed higher in the Search Engine Result Pages (SERP). This is where SEO comes into play. With SEO, you can tweak your website content and thereby get your website listed higher in the SERPs. However, there are some pros and cons of SEO, which we will discuss in this article. So, is SEO worth the investment? You may read on to find out the answer.

Search engines consider different factors such as the keywords used, the links in the website, the “freshness” and relevance of the content, and so on when ranking websites. Having a high page rank will increase the chances of visitors stopping by at your website and this is important if you are to make sales. SEO is important as many people do not know the individual web addresses of the companies providing the products or services they require. Hence, they usually search for a keyword or key phrase related to what they want. SEO will help you optimize your website so that it appears on the first pages when the relevant keywords are searched.

To start optimizing your website, you have to know what keyword or key phrases you should optimize. Your keyword is the word or phrase customers will use when searching for your product. It is not advisable to use the company’s name unless it is a household name among your current and prospect customers.  If you do not have an easily recognized or popular brand, it is best of you go for a keyword that relates to your product or service.

Of course, there are several other advantages of SEO, some of which are described here - SEO can get huge amount of targeted traffic into your website through search engines, or through the generation of quality back links. A lot of money needs to be invested for buying back links from reputed websites related to your niche area. However, through the optimization of your website, you will be able to easily generate natural back links for your website. SEO, at the end of the day, fetches you immense traffic for your website. Needless to say, traffic is what your website and business needs.

There is another side to the story as well that makes you ask the question, “is SEO worth the investment”? SEO is a continuous process and needs you to invest a lot of time and energy, tweaking your web content every day. After you have constructed your website (and strictly followed all the SEO guidelines), the task is not over. You will need to continue with your optimization efforts persistently, week after week and month after month. Furthermore, the results are not guaranteed, and sometimes, the results may not be encouraging enough, even after you have put in a lot of SEO efforts. You may have reached a top rank in the SERPs, but there is always the possibility that you could drop down the SERPs in no time. In other words, you could lose your rank to a competitor or a change in search engine algorithm.

Many website owners do not find it worthy to invest time and money into SEO, and opt for alternatives such as PPC (pay per click advertising) to promote their websites. However, if you have time, you must give SEO a try. After all, SEO can get you the traffic that you want, and it costs nothing but time and a little effort on your part. Therefore the answer to the question, “is SEO worth the investment?” would depend on the time you have at hand, and if you would want to take the required efforts.

Importance of Search Engine Optimization

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

The pages and position on a page that a website appears when a user searches for a specific key term is determined by search engine optimization.  Websites that are properly optimized appear at the top pages and rank highly than others. Search engine optimization (SEO) is important to any company or individual who has set up a website. This is because it determines how your website will rank for a given keyword search.

You need not make huge monetary investments to get your SEO program going. You could hire an SEO expert or tie up with a firm, to get all your SEO work done. Doing SEO on your own is another very good idea. It is very easy to learn the tips and tricks of SEO. Once you have decided to do your SEO yourself, you would spend absolutely no money for your SEO campaign. You are not supposed to pay any money to the search engines for ranking your website higher.

First, you have to indicate the keyword in the Title tag. This is done when you are designing the website. The Title tag is important as it is the first phrase that a search engine spider comes across on your website. Write the title in a descriptive manner and incorporate the keyword.  Having done this, you also have to incorporate the keyword in the headings and body content of the webpage. Ensure you bold the headings as this will enable the search engines to easily detect the keywords and key phrases. Write good content your visitors will like and use the keywords in the content once in a while. The keywords should not be forced to fit in the content; they should appear naturally.

SEO also comes with some limitations that make you think, “Is SEO the right choice”? You need to have enough time at hand to be able to do SEO every day, for it is an ongoing process. In fact, you may have to spend hours in front of your computer, optimizing your website. Another drawback is that the results are not guaranteed at all. You may end up doing SEO for months, with no luck. Many people also complain of sudden rank falls with SEO. The fall in rank could happen as a result of your competitors doing better, or some changes in the search engine algorithm.

Some of the established companies do not invest time and money into SEO, for they do not find it lucrative. They choose different methods such as PPC. However, SEO is worth a try, if you have the time and commitment to do it. If you have the same, then your answer to the question, “is SEO the right choice?” should be ‘yes’.

SEO Basics

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

There is one thing that is crucial to every website and Internet Marketing Campaign and that is Search Engine Optimization.  What is Search Engine Optimization?  It is referred to as SEO.  When you are not taking the necessary time to optimize your website for SEO, then you are losing crucial traffic flow.  SEO is also viewed as free online advertisement for your website and your business.  So, if you have a chance for free online advertisement, then why are you not taking advantage of it?

The top search engines on the Internet, Google and Yahoo developed a pretty complex ranking system that produces results when people do keyword searches on their search engines.  Based upon this system, your website shows up at a certain ranking according to a lot of different factors and considerations that the complex system calculates based upon your website and its traffic flow.  What is so important is that you want to your website to show up on the first page of results when the keyword that is relevant to your business is typed in to the keyword search engine. And you can achieve that throught SEO.

SEO is not about spending money to get a higher rank. You may only need to pay some amount of money to the SEO expert you have hired, or the SEO firm you have outsourced the work to. Doing SEO on your own also makes a lot of sense. You may learn the SEO guidelines, for they are extremely easy to understand. You would end up paying no money at all, if you do the SEO by yourself. You have no obligation to pay the search engines any money for the rank you achieve.

See, if you overuse keywords or use them incorrectly within your content then you will be penalized which will knock you down within the rankings and Google.  The SEO Google ranking system is very complex and difficult to comprehend for most people.  Just as technology continues to advance, the SEO system does as well.  Some of the factors used to determine website rankings within SEO are META Tags, keyword density, inbound links and Website Traffic.

Meta Tags are the pieces of HTML Code that search engines use to analyze web content and keywords can be placed within the META Tags to rank higher in the rankings.  Keyword density is how many times keywords are placed in your content.  Inbound links are placed on other websites; they should only be placed on other high ranking websites though.

Because of the above drawbacks, many website owners do not invest into SEO. They are more inclined towards investment into popular advertising programs such as PPC. So, ask yourself - “Do you need to do SEO?” If your answer is ‘yes’, and if you feel you can devote considerable amount of time to it, then you must certainly give SEO a try.

What is SEO?

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

There is one thing that is crucial to every website and Internet Marketing Campaign and that is search engine optimization.  What is Search Engine Optimization?  It is referred to as SEO.  When you are not taking the necessary time to optimize your website for SEO, then you are losing crucial traffic flow.  SEO is also viewed as free online advertisement for your website and your business.  So, if you have a chance for free online advertisement, then why are you not taking advantage of it?

The most popular search engines, Google and Yahoo, developed a very complex ranking system that was designed to rank websites.  This complex ranking system decides which websites shows up on the results pages when you perform an Internet keyword search on the search engines.  Obviously, you desire for your website to show up on the first page of results of the rankings.  As you know, most Internet users only use the first or second page of results and this is why seo is so important for your business to be using.

This is what makes SEO, Search Engine Optimisation so important to your business’s bottom line and Internet marketing campaign.  If you know nothing about SEO, then the most successful thing you can do right now to wind up on the first page of Google or Yahoo’s results is to hire a seasoned SEO professional or SEO firm to optimize your company’s website or your business’s website for you.  A SEO writer can write and manipulate the proper content, articles, newsletters and other materials on your website, including the titles.

If you do it yourself and you not familiar with SEO and you do not learn the entire complex, detail parts about SEO, then you risk making common mistakes like overusing keywords and incorrectly using keywords.  When you do this, you are penalized by Google.  You can end up in a worse ranking than before.  If you choose to pursue SEO on your own, just realize that Google changes and frequently updates their rules and the rankings system based on technology developments and advances.

SEO is a difficult and complex ranking system developed by Google to rank websites for the purposes of rating in a list when a keyword search is performed.  It is in your best interest to land as high up on the list as possible, so using SEO is a must for your business and its overall performance.  To effectively optimize your website, hire an SEO professional or employ the use of an SEO firm today and have them start optimizing your website now for maximum results in the SEO Google rankings system.

Bring Customers to Your Site with SEO

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

The goal of any business is to make a profit, which comes from paying customers. In order to market online and survive, you need plenty of traffic to get those paying customers. You can spend a lot of money getting people to your website, but the key here getting visitors who are looking for what you have, and not how much you spend to get them.

Targeted traffic is people who are actively searching for what is on your webpage, as these are who you can convert into customers. Otherwise, traffic is just traffic. Search Engine Optimization, or SEO, is the tools and the methods of putting your website within reach of the people who are looking for what you have to offer. Just having a website and a product, no matter how good they are, will not get you paying customers if they can’t fine you.

Keywords are the words and phrases that are typed into the search boxes on the search engines when people are looking for something. In order to find your webpage, you need to have the keywords they are searching for, not only on your page, but arranged and used in such a way that they are noticed and displayed by the search engines. SEO or Search Engine Optimization is the things that are done to get your webpage listed as close to the top of the SERP, specifically on the first page where people are most likely to see and click on your site. The goal is number one, but getting into the top 10 can be a real boost to your business.

You need to have more than just people getting to your site; you still need a good solid SEO campaign to convert them from potential customers to paying customers. This is a core part of the sales process, but you certainly need to get people to your webpage before you even have a chance to convince them to buy your product.

A big part of SEO is the keywords, because that is what people are using to search for information and products, but there is certainly more to it than just the keywords. Here is just one SEO tip: when your webpage is returned on an SERP, there is a title, description, and the link. The description is usually taken from the Metadata description tag in the head section of your html code, or if not present, the first couple sentences from the webpage. Concentrate on making your description or lead in sentences something that will make searchers want to click on your site over the millions of others that come back in a search.

Can SEO be an effective way to get customers to your site? Yes it can, and is a proven method of long term targeted traffic generation. Remember that the big search engines are not going to hand over a plan that tells you exactly what they are looking for to place your page in the number one SERP spot, but requires some know-how and a lot of testing. There are basic proven methods that work, and the best part about SEO is that once the initial work is finished, the traffic and the paying customers are all free, which means less marketing costs and more profits.

Should You Opt For SEO - Is It Really Useful?

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

The pages and position on a page that a website appears when a user searches for a specific key term is determined by search engine optimization.  Websites that are properly optimized appear at the top pages and rank highly than others. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is important to any company or individual who has set up a website. This is because it determines how your website will rank for a given keyword search.

Your website needs to satisfy the search engine’s algorithms, in order to get indexed by the search engine spiders and rank higher in the SERP. Most of the search engine algorithms follow the same set of protocols. However, the algorithm is developed differently by different search engines, using a similar set of protocols. The website that follows the algorithm better ranks better. Optimizing your website for the search engine algorithm is called search engine optimization (SEO).

First, Search Engine Optimization starts when you are designing the website.  You must have an idea of what keywords your customers will search when looking for your products and services.  Unless your company is well known and has a global brand, avoid using your company name as this will limit the number of users who will find you. Instead, think of a keyword related to the service of product you are providing. For instance, users will search for a solution to a problem, or a specific product. You should derive your keywords from these.

After knowing your keywords, use them in the Title tag when designing the website. Avoid writing the keyword alone. Instead, write a descriptive line that incorporates the keyword. This will help your visitors know what to expect from your site and search engines will rank your page more favorably.  Apart from the Title tag, use the keywords in the headings of your website. Remember to use the keywords in a sentence and not singly. Another important thing to consider is the content of your website. The keywords should be incorporated in the content evenly at a density of about 3% to 5%. This means that the keyword should appear about once in every 100 words.

However, SEO also has a few drawbacks that prompt you to think - “should you opt for SEO - is it really useful”? SEO is not a one time job. Rather, you need to keep optimizing your website lifelong. You might need to spend hours of time every day, doing SEO for your site. Even after working very hard, the positive results are not guaranteed. Furthermore, your high rank could fall down the ladder any time as a result of competition or a new algorithm adapted by the search engines.

As a result of the above discussed drawbacks, many webmasters do not opt for SEO. They find it to be wastage of time and hence opt for other options such as the PPC. This may not work well for everyone, though, and therefore, if you can devote some time every day, then SEO could always be the first option for you. With no monetary investments required, SEO could be the best way to promote your website and drive traffic into your website. All that you need to invest is time. Therefore, to answer the question, “should you opt for SEO - is it really useful”? You need to check the amount of time you can spend doing it. If you have the time and are committed, SEO is worth a try.

The Right Way to Do Titles And Descriptions

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

Yahoo & Bing

Copy that’s matching what folk are searching is a great way to get natural SEO.  In here, we intend to talk about the way to write titles and descriptions, generally because these are significant when it comes to on page SEO and how important those titles are. This is how to learn SEO.

Titles must draw the reader in to be certain they read it.  Often, it’s sort of like a teaser that gives missing info to force the reader to read the entire way through.  This gives off a mystique and has a newsy quality to it.  In here, the passive voice is useful.  I do not say ‘Michel Fortin’s Copywriting and promoting Tips’ I say ‘Copywriting and promoting Tips By Copywriter Michel Fortin’.  So copywriting, marketing, tips or copywriter are front loaded.

I have the special luck of having been on the internet for a while now and I am known the way I’m known, so folk basically search for my name.  I look at my Google stats and my traffic statistics and people keep looking and they find my blog thru my own name.

What I do is, I have a tendency to put those keywords in the front.  I may not instantly be number one when it comes to copywriting tips, but that isn’t my goal anyway.  My goal is that when it seems in the search engine, those words hit them.  So when they scan the search results, especially if you are at the top, that is great, but if you’re not, when folk scan, that hits them.  That is what I actually need to do.

Take a look at some of the blog articles.  I’ll give you an example of what I’ve done with my past blog.  I say, ‘Headlines that Pull, persuade and Propel’ rather than saying ‘How to Write press releases that Pull and Persuade’ or ‘How to tug and launch Readers with Headlines’ Instead, I put the word news because I know when folks look for headline tips, they type in the word title.  So I front loaded that keyword.  That’s the kind of thing I do.

Let me warn you folk now.  I am not an SEO person in any way.  I do like to believe about the way in which the mind thinks.  I always try to focus on putting those few keywords.

There’s a actually cool and fascinating study done at a college, published by Jakob Neilsen in his mag Use IT.  He discussed using the passive voice ; front loading keywords are important because eye tracking studies have proven that when folks scan a page, or when they type in words in search engines, they will type in, or look for , or scan for, and stop at, those 2 first words.  The 1st 3 or 4 words maximum, but the 1st two words are crucial.

If you have Copywriting Tips or if you have insomnia Cure or Energy Boost, those are important because you are putting those keywords that folk are actually looking for.  But in my particular titles, in my particular blog content, I tend to do that, but I also tend to use it in such a manner that it drives folk into the blog post.

as an example, if I write a post on five of my best SEO copywriting tips.  I should say Boost search site Traffic Using These five Tips…so the boost and the keywords are front loaded, but I didn’t mention what the tips are.  I claimed : These five Tips, as if you have got to go into the article to know what those five tips are.

So I use a bit of curiosity, intrigue, occasionally half-stated truths or half stated statements.  I start the idea and then I use.. , the elipse so that folk are driven into the blog post to read.  My major goal is to get folk into my blog, into my site.  SEO is a sort of a late addition. This is how to do SEO. But it is particularly crucial to get folk to interact with me and to purchase my stuff.

How To Get Google To Like You And Get On The First Page

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

The biggest problem many internet marketers face is trying to get free traffic. That free traffic will come from many sources, one of them being an organic search. Learning SEO (search engine optimization) will allow you to be found in a search. These are the search results on the left hand side of the page when you type a query into Google. On most searches you will see many pages of results totaling thousands of websites. The problem here lies in the fact that if the searcher does not find what she is looking for in the first page or two she will then do another search. The secret in SEO is to get to the first page of results so that the searcher will find your site immediately and will no longer need to keep searching.

There are three easy SEO secrets that you can use to get to the very top of a Google search. It may look intimidating, but using these stragies will become very effective. First off, your website should be keyword optimized. You will want to pick the keywords in which you want to rank for a search result and place them on the page in several key places. You will need to strategically place these words on your website. Too much too often and google thinks your are spamming to get to the top. Your keywords that you just decided on also need to be placed correctly in the page titile, tags, description and content. page, even if you have the best information on dogs ever. This last item will help push your page the very top of the search engine results; this is links. By having many links back to your website, Google will think that others think your website is important. There are many ways to get your links out on the web. By utilizing a service such as OnlyWire you can bookmarks your links on any many bookmarking websites as well as posting your links on social networking sites all instantaneously. The next thing you can do if you are writing articles is create many versions of it using and submitting them to over hundreds of article directories using an Automatic Article Submitter.

Even though you may have SEO down perfectly, that is still not the end of the process. Just because someone visits your website does not mean you can convert them into a subscriber to your list or a customer. It is very simple to have a great website now that is easy to create, very attractive and makes people want to stay or keep coming back. Establishing a WordPress blog is the easiest and most cost effective way to accomplish this. First, purchase your own domain name so that you can begin branding and then install WordPress which is free. There are many free themes that can be used and you can also add your own custom images and banners to the page to make it your own. The next thing you will want is to make is easy to navigate. If information cannot be easily found then the user will not stay for long. To truly build a relationship with your visitor you should have an opt-in form on your website in which they can subscribe to your newsletter or some other information that you have to offer which provide some real value to them.

These steps are very simple and when used consistently over time your website will become highly trafficked and popular in many search results. SEO is fairly simple once you know what the search engines are looking for in order to rank your website.

To see a system that utilizes these MLM SEO secrets along with many other free MLM lead generation strategies let Randy Disert help you.
